Day 3, Tuesday 27 March, 32.3km
Today was supposed to be easier at 32.5km......
It was hotter though, hitting 47 oC, compared to 42 oC yesterday, apparently, and it certainly felt warm. Interestingly, my heart rate has been back at normal levels after flying off on the first day, so I must be getting acclimatised. The first 10km to CP1 was on salt beds, so I ran most of this and skipped through the CP to save time (why?!). Then we hit the first climb, which was hard. The second climb was a 5km continuous, steady trudge through sand. Again, there’s no real traction here, particularly for my gentle, rhino footsteps, and I felt pretty much spent by the top and couldn’t wait to get in. On its own, today would have been fine, but each day gets progressively harder. It’s actually a struggle to eat!  My feet are still OK, but it’s the big day tomorrow, so all to play for. I picked up a little further today, 476th for 6 hours and 20 minutes, but better to come.
