Day 5, Thursday 29 March, Rest day
A day to relax, nothing to be concerned about until tomorrow.

Competitors drifted in through the course of the day, having spent the night out on the course. In the afternoon, we were summoned into the central area for an announcement. One of the French competitors, a top 50 finisher on the previous day, had died peacefully in his sleep during the night. While I, nor indeed many of the other competitors did not personally know him, it hit everybody quite hard. This is only the second death in the race’s 22 year history and only days before his 50th birthday.
